Since we are on the subject, I have a post someone gave for glueing the heads back on the moulds that have become separated.  What would be a good clamp for this procedure?

HI Marc
The only diffence is in the overall weight of the hammer. A difference in weight can affect the tone but its not directly related to any specific tonal influence of the wood itself..other than the weight.

Hi,

I'd like to start another thread on the choice of hammers, this time focusing on the molding. I asked this question about a year ago, wanting to know if the density of the different types of molding (eg. Hornbeam, Walnut, Mahoganny, etc..) significantly affected the tone. I know that their densities differ slightly but is that difference significant in the sound. I've installed at least one of each type since then but have found no significant difference except for the color.

Thanks

Marc Lanthier
