Yes it does. Red is the best under color for a rich brass/bronze color. It gives it a warmer tone. Grey tends to cool down the brass color. Red rouge is used to polish real brass for the same reason.

  My imagination or does anyone else notice that on the plate gold looks a bit better over a red primer than a grey one?
