The Manual for Steinway suggests DW specs starting at 50g in the bass and graduating down to 46g in the treble (something like that). There is no right or wrong within reason, only personal preference. Balance weight systems are better as they account for friction differences. What is a Steinway "V" btw. So far, Steinway has been unresponsive. Respectfully, Ron Bergeron PianoWorks LLC 512.673.0350 www.austinpianoworks.com
