  Thanks Scott. I was considering drilling a 12.5 mm hole and plugging it with laminated maple pin block plugs. I'll post Ron for the idea you suggest.

For least intrusive pin-block repair, I think that Ron Overs has mentioned making 0.5mm rock maple veneer collars for the pin holes.
