[pianotech] pedal usage

Pedaling has always had second fiddle status when it comes to learning
to play the piano. Most students are left to their own devices when it
comes to the use of the sustain pedal because so few teachers themselves
were taught how to use it.

A lot of pedal noise can be avoided simply by subtle changes of pedal
position, as opposed to vigorous up and down movements.
