[pianotech] Discoloration on S&S sharps

Probably an attack from whatever cleaning solution was used on them. If it’s
from water or sweat you could try some alcohol in an inconspicuous are to
see if that does anything. If not you could get Chuck Behm article on
refinishing sharps and have at it.

Hello, friends.

 

A client has a 1920s Steinway grand, and the sharps now have a whitish glaze
to them.  They feel just a bit rough to the touch, and I turn to my
experienced colleagues for advice as to what to do.
