When I started, I also sought the aid of a CPA and he suggested, that if
I can, adapt the accounting package to reflect the US 1040 Schedule C form.

I use the same form names and add line numbers.

For example, advertising is line 8, so I have a COA entry - Advertising
(8). Then if your want to go farther, you can add subaccounts for
various types of advertising.

Now my business side of the taxes is so easy.
