Mike,
How is number 7 considered an advantage? Generally, I think quite
the opposites since it cost American jobs.

There are a number of other advantages to using an engine hoist
(commonly called a cherry picker) to lift plates out of grand pianos.

1. Reasonable cost.
2. Portability. It can be moved around in the shop with or without the
plate attached and can be stored in a corner out of the way. It can also go

with you to another location or be borrowed by anyone needing its
capability.
3. No additional items such as power needs, a trolley or supporting beams
either vertically or horizontally needed. No installation needed, its ready

to work.
4. Very precise control of the plate going up or down.
5. Can be sold or given to another in the future.
6. Always ready to remove an engine if needed.
7. Made in China.
