[pianotech] Interesting find

It won't actually make the sound louder. Stiffening in this manner is an
attempt to improve sustain (usually). More stiffness means less loudness,
at least at attack, but a slower rate of energy loss, i.e. more sustain.

Wim,

It looks like the glue joints between ribs and soundboard are good. There
are some cracks in the sound board but not very wide. I suspect they may
have been put in there to "bolster" the sound (increase the volume) as it
was in a retirement home - you know - older people and their ability to hear
has gone down!!?? That excludes us older tuner/technicians!!

Does it look like original equipment, or did someone put pedal springs
between the ribs and beams to stop some buzzing?
