You didn't shear the pins, they bent and broke. Get the tool in contact with the nut so there's no free pin, and they won't. Another goodie is an impact tool. A handle with one correct size pin in it, placed in one of the holes and tapped (or whacked) in the right direction with a hammer, will loosen it. Ron N
