Dave,

It sounds to me like the dealer thought you were requested being sent to
attend one of the Steinway courses at the factory.  Typically it is CAUT
techs, or techs who work for a Steinway dealer who go to the courses.  And
then you still need to "apply" and get on the waiting list.  Their response
would be "appropriate" for that - which is your first question, I think.

In regards to getting a technical manual, it seems they definitely
misunderstood your query.  Save yourself the trouble, and email holly andrew
at S&S NY and ask for one.

They really shouldn't be THAT much of a commodity.
