As I said, in Steve Brady's book on Field Repairs, at the back, there is a
chart of lubricants and where one can/not and should/not apply them.  The
Naphtha mineral oil, Zippo fluid, is recommended for center pins and can be
used on string friction/bearing points too.  I think I will stick with this
for the mean time.
