When I had the piano store we moved brand new grands around the store all the time on just the padded dolly. But for your situation, I would really recommend you put it on a board. Just buy a 2x12 and tack a cleat on one end then get some ratchet straps from Harbor Freight (pick up some extra blankets while you're there). The piano will be more stable for storage if you leave it on a skid and better protected. Is a piano board necessary or would a sufficiently padded dolly suffice. All other precautions would , or course, be taken. Thank you for any help.
