HA! Yeah Jerry, I DO remember your tragic story. So a TIE CLIP is absolutely
necessary equipment!

Here is a couple of my favorite books:

 Marketing Without Advertising
<http://www.amazon.com/Marketing-Without-Advertising-2nd-Ed/dp/0873373693>

Guerrilla Marketing
<http://www.amazon.com/Guerrilla-Marketing-4th-Inexpensive-Strategies/dp/061

More advice: Treat piano teachers like royalty. Actually treat ALL your
customers like royalty, but go the extra, extra mile for the piano teachers.
Join the local Music Teachers Association ( I get a free listing on my local
MTA website with a link to my website!). Be a regular at the meetings.
Volunteer to do a program. Offer to do tunings for adjudications.

Huge: Get better at voicing. Endeavor to do at least a little voicing on
every piano you service. Go to lots of voicing classes. Get quick at
resurfacing hammers. Buy some high quality voicing tools. Get voicing
mentoring from a seasoned voicer.

Cleaning! Pianos are filthy!! I bring my little Fastvac into every home. I
can't tell you how many times clients have told me "the last technician
never did that!".

Leave a nice looking, customized receipt with a classy looking business
card, and a nice heavy, attractive pen. I love the

"Pro-Inspire Pen" by Amerstdam Printing.

OK, I KNOW you're going to hate this one. Dress up. Wear slacks, a nice
shirt (J.C Penny's Stratford Shirts are the best buy!) and wear a nice tie
and sport coat.
