EDT's have their place just as computers do for business. However, the point I wish to make is this. If the unit a person chooses to tune with is actually tuning the piano out of tune for one reason or another and the EDT user/s cannot detect this because they cannot hear that it the tuning is in fact, not correct, then what? The most likely scenario in this case then, is that it will probably wind up staying that way because they do not have the aural skills to verify that the EDT is in fact incorrect at that time. Thus the need for good aural tuning skills. "The EDT is a tool. They were never meant as a replacement for the human ear." Quote, unquote from Dean Reyburn to me. "They are not a replacement for aural verification. Any EDT should always be used in conjunction with the human ear having the final say, provided, the human ear is also correct." Again, quote, unquote.... I guess I have to start naming names, like Susan Kline, can't accept ETD's. Now you are really pushing my buttons - you know as well as I do, that the differences between aural tuning and ETD tuning - IS - EXTREMELY - SUBJECTIVE. SO, I'LL SAY IT AGAIN, DAMN THIS ARGUMENT IS GETTING OLD. -- Duaine Hechler Piano, Player Piano, Pump Organ Tuning, Servicing & Rebuilding Reed Organ Society Member Florissant, MO 63034 (314) 838-5587 dahechler at att.net www.hechlerpianoandorgan.com -- Home & Business user of Linux - 11 years
