We'll just sit here quietly and pretend that you are the only person who has ever made such a mistake J Murphy's Corollary: Anything that can be measured, can - and will - be measured wrong. Will Truitt From: pianotech-bounces at ptg.org [mailto:pianotech-bounces at ptg.org] On Behalf Of Noah Frere Sent: Tuesday, July 19, 2011 2:04 PM To: pianotech at ptg.org Subject: Re: [pianotech] New string broke twice The end of the adventure is at hand. As embarrassing as it is, and oh - it is - I measured the wrap diameter wrong, then when it broke, reordered the same thing thinking the string was flawed. Naturally, it broke. I then learned how to calculate the correct string. I went back to the piano Friday and discovered that the diameter of its counterpart's (that is, the other string of the bi-chord) winding, was exactly what I had calculated it should be - that is - .090". I am quite confident that this string will be the perfect string, and also that 3 times is a charm. I apologize to lead all involved on a wild goose chase, but am heartened by the learning of a new skill. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
