Martin I've had good luck with an electrical contact cleaner used first before lubricating with Protek:http://www.crcindustries.com/ei/content/prod_detail.aspx?PN=03070 I think it helps flush the gunk and dries very quickly. I picked it up at a localindustrial hardware store. I understand the desire to limit the cost/time/hassle for a first try!I've got one similar to see tomorrow - but I think it is the hammer flanges that are sluggish... Ron Koval
