Marshall, Just a follow-up to Williams post below. Yes, the Wurlie school piano has a lock on the side. (both sides ? ) the key was a simple affair but hard to find for sure. I would propose to the owner to do away with the think. Drill it out,Pry it out, punch it out with a hammer and punch, explosives could be an alternative but ---find a way ! If cosmetics are a concern just glue a wooden plug into the hole after demolition. Who needs a lock on a Kimball in a private home anyway ? I don't have any keys left, but that's how I remember it. Marshall, You do have a problem, unless the screws for the hinges are on the back of the piano. If so, just take them out and slide the lid back a little and maybe you can move the lock lever by hand. I suspect the customer is having difficulty opening the top. Just pull hard enough and it will open. The clips that hold the top down are probably rusted. He didn't know if it was a spinet or console. He bought it used. He said the key cover is open but he doesn't have a key to unlock the lid so that I can get in to tune it. so my question is, what kind of key does a Kimball use. Woud a Yamaha key work? If there is a different kind of key, how woudl I obtain one and what kind of key will open a Kimball? thanks Marshall MARSHALL'S PIANO SERVICE 215-510-9400 http://www.phillytuner.com -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
