Well, bless his heart. Isaac Sadigursky in California just called me and made a posed a wonderful solution to my little problem. Loosen and move the damper upstop rail upwards and then push the damper lift trap way up - and I should have plenty of clearance to get at the screws straight on from underneath the rail. Simple. Easy. And all it takes is someone with a whole lot more experience than me! Thanks Isaac!
