[pianotech] Ship via US Post Office, Not UPS Store or UPS

MBE became The UPS Store Franchise in 2003. MBE was an excellent franchise
until UPS bought the company and "forced" the UPS Store concept on
franchisees. Many former MBE owners who are still around under The UPS
Store are supposedly very unhappy franchisees.

1. Use the USPS aka The US Post Office. Pricing should be cheaper and the
US PO delivery times are fast and efficient, without UPS' surcharges.

2. I have heard that The UPS Store shipping prices are dictated by UPS.
Franchisees say there is very little profit for them in UPS shipping, thus
franchisees have to charge more for packing services to make any profit at
all and stay in business.

However, word on the street is that they absolutely are required to process
any claims for lost or damaged packaging. If they refuse, advise I have
read is to insist that UPS get involved. There are managers, district
managers, VPs, etc. who should get involved. Keep calling until they do the
right thing.

3. I think UPS rates are more expensive than the US Post Office for
comparable services. UPS also adds fuel surcharges, Saturday Delivery
charges and other fees to the base shipping rates, so be careful.
