Hi Marshall, What I see in the image is quite confusing. The felt lined J hook is 180 degrees from where it should be. The muffler strip is upside down yet still in front of the hammers. The return spring looks like it’s attached to the felt lined J hook however that might just be the angle of the camera. The muffler felt needs to be hanging downward from the metal bars that it’s glued to. The spring attaches to a point separate from the felt lined J hook as I recall. The felt lined J hook needs to be facing inward and downward. The linkage underneath the keybed may be the culprit. There’s two triangular pivot points (from memory). If one of them is 180 degrees out of position, the effect will be the reverse of what it’s supposed to be. There’s one directly above the pedal and another at the bass end of the keybed underside. See if the pal nut is missing on one of them or is different than the other one. Press the pedal and see if the connecting rod moves up or downward as you press the pedal. It’s possible that one of the triangular pivots came off it it’s axis and was reinstalled incorrectly leading to all the wrong repairs that followed. If so, all bets are off of anything being factory original. You may need a pal nut to effect repairs on the pivots. From memory, most likely they’re metric but somewhere in the neighborhood of a three sixteenths diameter pal nut would work.
