None, except that the notch edge isn't in the speaking length. With the 
notch edge at or behind the pin, the pin is the termination as it should 
be. If it's solid in the bridge, the sound is clean. If the notch edge 
is in the speaking length, it interferes with the pin termination and 
makes the tone indistinct and muddy.

A point I've tried to make for many years is that the pin is and should 
be the termination, not the notch edge. The notch edge can only get in 
the way.
