[pianotech] Google groups (Horace)

Keep in mind that anything that's accessible to the public (which pianotech
has always been -- at least it has been for years) is also available to
google. That said, Google at least does respect the robots.txt file on any
given website telling it not to index that site or a particular leg of a
site. But google is NOT the only game in town. You can bet your sweet bippy
that the Chinese are indexing any "worthwhile" site despite robots.txt
instructions to the contrary. I've seen them going through my site (even
though I haven't told them not to)... they even used to go thru my little
hobby site that I hosted on a server in my bedroom. Yup, Chinese "spies" in
my bedroom...

So unless you want a facility that's an even bigger PITA to use than the HL
forum is, google's gonna be there. You don't gain a thing by not hosting at
google. You just lose. Google is "free" for the cost of having reasonable
ads way over on the side where they are really easy to ignore.
