I didn't make much money doing this, however I wrote it off as a trip to the University. Since I never learn on a customer's piano I often take on projects like this just for the education, not the profit. Hopefully the next time around I will be faster and not need to correct as many mistakes along the way. It is a good policy not to learn on a customer's piano. But even with your experience, (all be it, just one piano), if a customer came to you with a similar piano, do you think you could get what it will really cost to do the work? Or will you again have to compromise, and do it for less, even though it would be a neat project to take on? What I'm really asking is, is it worth it to replace bridges on Sohmer grands, or should customers just accept what they have, and keep the piano until it "dies"?
