I think one of the main pluses of the indvidual stringing is that it frees 
the scale designer from dealing with odd number, and it allows the strings to be 
aligned perfectly with the bridge pins.  That is, if the bridge pins are 
installed accurately enough to allow it.  I have never seen instability that could 
be traced to movement around the hitch pin, and I haven't seen indvidual 
strings perform any better than doubling back.
