    Hi Jeff:
    Here's how I would handle this problem.  Explain to the customer and show him how many strings are breaking.  And, that the reasons for string breakage are not fully known-you might list several.  Wire, work hardening, playing with excessive sustain, playing hard, etc.  Regardless of the reason, it is likely to continue breaking strings.  Give the customer two choices:  Either continue like it is, replacing strings as they break, one by one, or replacing the set at one time.  Figure his cost per string X the number of strings, as well as the cost of replacing the set at one time.  Now its his call as to what he wants you to do.  
    Do not accept any blame for this problem.  You are there to assist in his dilemma, let him make the choice.
