I got my hands on 2 prototype sets of the Abel SP from Pianotek before they were made available to everyone else.? They are wonderful! I've used 5 sets total now.? These hammers are truly cold pressed, and are only available from Pianotek.? I have not had to lacquer any of them.? Hung right out of the box they were slightly mid rangy, and just needed some "cushion" needling to create a nice tonal envelope. Last summer I put a set in a D, a D with that straight German bridge in the first capo section.? With Steinway hammers, it was nearly impossible (at least for me) to get nice even tone in that area.? The SP's made that area smooth as silk. Love em!
