I've only seen this once (yet) and in that case it was the solder joint that failed; the "hanger" was still intact and the dry-fit back into its holes was still fairly tight. I used slightly thickened epoxy, sparingly but with decent collets at the joints, and it has held fine in a concert venue for many years. If you use epoxy, clean the joint first with acetone or lacquer thinner. No need to remove any remaining solder unless its loose, in the way, or you don't trust it; it will just become part of the structure of the joint. -- Regards, Alan B.
