This doesn't explain why the damper tray pivot pins are not aligned with the
damper lever centers. The general design of mounting the levers to the tray is
fine, but the thinking behind using two different pivots escapes me, and I
presume most other technicians.  There must have been a reason - the Steinway
piano designs seem to be too well thought out in general for this to have been
an oversight.
