Having been a professional trumpet player for many years, I must let you know that your "theory" is dead on. When playing with another musician who does not constantly adjust their pitch to the other musicians it is very annoying. Some players subscribe to the theory that their instruments were tuned at the factory. How about those piano owners who think that their pianos were tuned before delivery and that the instructions on the owners manual are only put there to advance the tuners income.
