Subject: Center Pin Lubricant

At the risk of plugging a product I'm responsible for, I would like to respond
to the center pin postings. First I'd never think of using silicone on an
action center. The stuff doesn't dry and because of this it will travel and
wick to areas you may not want it. Why risk damaging a piano finish with
silicone? Protek CLP is a product that has been on the market for 6yrs and is
being used by many techs. The product is a fluoropolymer so you get the slip of
a teflon type lubricant, but once the solvent evaporates you have a lubricant
protectant that molecularly bonds to the center pin and felt. If the bushing
needs shinking first I use the alcohol and water solution, let it dry and then
apply Protek CLP. Protek has also been proven to free action centers that are
contaminated with verdigris. Give it a try.

My apologies if this post sounds like an ad.
