When I tune an upright I strip mute the bass and tenor but use a Papps mute in the last treble section. It goes fast that way and I tune the unisons in with a SAT. I strip mute the same way in a grand but the Papps mute won't work in a vertical position. It keeps falling over. So I use 2 rubber mutes which is a lot slower than using the Papps mute. Does anyone know of a mute similar to the Papps that would work on a grand? Ted Simmons (FL)
