You are right on the "money".  Prices for today totally depend on what the
market will bear.  An $18,000 M&H in one area translates to 15K in one and
20K in another.
Use The Piano Book in conjunction with the new supplement (contains
manufacturers suggested list prices) to help determine value.  YOU MUST KNOW
what people pay for pianos, new and used, in your area in order to establish
value.
Either do the research or do not try to be an appraiser.
