Strip muting, which way?

     When the strip starts to get short (cutting bits off for pedal
repairs, etc) just let it diminish down to nothing, and try using 3
wedges only.  Tune the middle string of the A, move one wedge to the
side of the next unison, tune the left or right string of the A, move
the wedge to the other side and tune the  other side.  Continue to the
end of the temperament in this manner, tuning each unison completely
before going to the next, then to  the end of the tuning.  It shaves 30%
off the tuning time, the customer no longer asks Where did you get that
red felt from - my piano?, and for some reason the tuning is more solid.
