Now I understand.  No, it is not offset like your diagram.
It is   ____O______O______O____ underneath the keybed.
Someone suggested privately these plates might have been used for crating
purposes.

I really missed the boat on this one.  I thought you were referring to my
other post I sent about the Janssen Console Piano.  I have never seen or
heard of what you are describing above.
