Hi Lorlin, I have a hoist that is used for hoisting engines out of cars that I bought from Harbor Freight Salvage. It was not very expensive and the legs roll right under the piano. Because of the length of the legs, there is practically no danger of collapse or tipping. Once the plate is out, in can be rolled away from the piano and lowered. A word of caution. Removing a plate is *not* a one person job. Once the bolts have been moved and the plate is on its way up, there will be a lot of shifting unless the center of lift is exactly in balance with the weight distribution of the plate. The rim of the piano should be protected so that the plate does not dig or mar the inside of the rim as it lifts. On Sat, 30 Mar 1996, Lorlin D.
