You can say something like 'this instrument is adequate for its designed
purpose' and be completely truthful, if somewaht misleading. The designed
purpose of the spinet/small console piano having been to provide an
affordable PSO to those who could not, or would not, afford a Grand, while
providing a profit to manufacturer and dealer.

"Actually, I tuned a couple of Kimball grands at a church recently that
impressed me. "
Leslie, Kimball did have a line of Grands that were collectively called
the "Viennese Collection" I believe. They were quite acceptable for their
price range and size. Certainly not performance quality, but really quite
good for what they were. Of course when Kimball consolidated their line a
few years ago they dropped the collection as being to costly to produce. (at
least that is the reason given as I recall it). Sadly, however you feel
about Kimballs, we all know where they are now.
