fingernail protection

Dear Karen,

I have used a tapered 5/8" dowel with a piece of hammer felt glued to
each end.  I hold the stick in the middle and hit the keys with either
end.  Works great, but use ear plugs when you tune this way or you WILL
damage your hearing.

You can shape the dowel to fit you hand with duct tape or some such
until it feels just right for your hand.

There was along thread on this subject three years or so ago most likely
under the title of test blows.
