Hello everyone

I recently worked on a Steinway L (431725) that had a clunk sound on key
release. I'll go back to check on it, but I took a few mins. to look it
over.

Newer hammers and shanks (not sure how long ago)
sound is NOT in the dampers or fallboard

This is a teflon action (I don't have any teflon experience) but there
did't seem to be any loosness in the centers.

I couldn't make the noise with the hammer/shank removed. (Moving the
key/whippen assembly)

I observed that the knuckles seemed really hard.

Has anyone seen this before?
What is going on - what can I do for this instrument?

thanks in advance!
