Jim: I also had a similar experience setting up the program. Go into the properties (round yellow button) and scrutinize the settings. I set up my Mom's computer, and had a problem with the area code (Los Angeles now requires area code for local calls). I tore my hair out for hours until I unchecked the box for automatic area code dialing and included the area code in the number box. You can also call their support number. It sounds like her computer isn't logging onto the internet after you "knock". I would check her internet connection also. Let me know when you'd like to try connecting.
