Joe, Rolland, and Ron: Thanks for getting back to me about those hairline bridge cracks. Just to mutually clarify some questions that each of you seemed to have - the piano is an Ellington grand model "L". As I stated in my original post I am restringing the instrument so taking the wires off is long ago a done dealand if there is going to be any bridge repair this is certainly the time to do it. I just wanted to give the owner the most solid piano that I can under the circumstances. Those cracks aren't causing any problems yet, but later..............????? btw this instrument was strung with whole gage wire sizes only - no 1/2 sizes. 48 wound wires - and before you ask - no wound trichords. Thanks again for the feedback. John R. Fortiner ps Has anyone noticed that Mapes is NOT stocking 2 1/4" tuning pins? Just 2 3/8" and 2/1/2" ___________________________________________________________________ Get the Internet just the way you want it. Free software, free e-mail, and free Internet access for a month!
