Typically, when tuning pianos with high bearing friction, the key needs to be firmly struck to render the string through the bearings and equalize the tension throughout all the segments. Some of our colleagues have stated that the "pounding" can be minimized with a refined hammer technique. Question: Can the pounding ALSO be minimized with a safe bearing lubricant? What kind of bearing lubricant have any of you used to successfully reduce pounding the key? Carman Gentile RPT
