Sometimes a few shims under the back rail will take up the lost motion, then shim the balance rail to create key dip. Much quicker than cranking 88 capstans and replacing 88 balance rail or front rail felts. Be sure you haven't lifted the front of the keys above the key slip, however, and that the key rail or fallboard won't function with the changed key height. Actually you should look for a fundamental cause for the sloppy fit. It sounds like the keybed has found a new position?? Are the feet of the piano standing in water? Roger Hayden
