New Tokiwa wips, square/sharp edges. There is a smoothness now to the letoff which makes the effort worthwhile, it will certainly reduce wear and tear on the knuckles. I had sanded them much the same as David Love described. Perhaps burnishing with steel is a little overkill but it worked. I like Joe's cowhide burnisher.
