Phil, Be cautious! I recall stipping/sandblasting a plate years ago. A Vose, as I recall. The darned thing was riddled with pits!!!!! Yikes! Two weeks of filling/sanding...filling/sanding, etc. finally made it almost presentable and worthy of guilding. On the other hand, I recently completed an Everett, where I stripped it and did minor filling, using a primer/filler. The Everett was only a week of sanding/filling! In both cases, it was a "must do" situation, where there was "contamination" on the plate finish that was causing problems with the re-guilding. Not fun work and messy! :-( If there is no contamination problem, sanding & light filling is better, IME. Best Regards, Joe Garrett, RPT, (Oregon) Captain, Tool Police Squares Are I
