(Imho) . . . some OT posts are appropriate for this list. Ones related to general music instrument technology., such as the recent one requesting " string " instr. info. I find it interesting to read a post which is not directly related to piano, but does interrelate someway to music technology. Trucks and cars are very different, but the rules of the road are the same for both. It's interesting to see how instruments differ or are the same. Many techs., use violin bridge fundamentals to compare them to how piano bridges might work. ? ? ? Some time ago, there was a question whether guitars, violins were tuned to ET. ? ? ? I don't know if having a narrow view on technology, [ just piano related ], gives us a wide enough scope to try and understand what we do. For instance , we need to know about wood, metals, plastics, glues, etc. etc., and then, we should know something about music.!! I think we are not specialists in the general sense of the word, but we have a general practise. Posts which I find very annoying, are ones related to politics, or religion. At this very moment, it is very difficult to escape the war in Iraq, and I'm sure we all have our opinions. This is a very traumatic time, but hopefully will soon pass, and we can then get back to some form of normalcy. Carl/ Winnipeg.
