Hello Glenn
We seem to be straying far from the subject of pre-cut string to the =
subject of price-cut shops! Here in the old country we have super =
stores, ASDA (our version of KeyMart) Safeway, Tesco, Arndale and other =
shopping centres all striving to put the little guy out of business. And =
succeeding.... Gad - now the post office is on strike! Anyone would be =
forgiven for thinking there was an alternative means of communication =
wouldn't they? ;-) There are, of course, other shops than Shalom =
Harrods, Smiths, Marks & Spencer etc. some very nice little shops indeed =
which the major stores can't even hope to emulate in their marketting. I =
know you can get pianos at Harrods - ideed they have a piano sale every =
year - but with the demise of all piano manufacturers now in this =
benighted country we have to fall back on the "used piano" approach and =
"buy-in" mammoth quantities of used Yamahas. Why do the Japanese have =
such a high turn-over of pianos? They seem to keep the new piano maybe =
three years and then trade it in for a new one. Great Britain gets the =
used ones. Is there any truth in the saying that Yamahas lose their =
tonal quality over a short period? If so this could be a reason...:-0

You know Glenn, you're the lucky ones over the other side of the pond =

Herrberger-Brooks have gone... End of an era. :-(

Aeolian was better off dead many say. In America it seems to be moving =
to a kind of micro-brewery approach with many small but exceeding fine =
shops. Is this true in Britian as well ?
