Hello Isaac OLEG Those "tone improvements after pitch raising when tuned from 20cents above" could you be a bit more explicit? When I tune (as I did yesterday) a piano up to A=440 I follow my so called "quadrant system" which tunes quarter of the piano from 40cents flat up to A=444 (I haven't computed this in terms of cents yet) the next quarter up to A=443, the third quarter to 442 and the last to A=441. By this time the piano is ready for a fine tune - and many strings are OK already. I find the tone at A=440 greatly improved over the tone "as found" (as it was before I started) and I'm wondering if my method complies with observation. Little story. A concert pianist friend of mine bought a piano which was a semi-tone flat and asked me if I would bring it up. So I did (as above) but before I "brought up" the third and fourth quarters of the piano I challenged him to play "any piece you want - and see how far you get" At this point the piano sounds as if you're going down the whole-tone scale playing each note twice) The result of my challenge was hilarious! He played just so-far into the Beethoven then we both collapsed laughing fit to bust. End of story. Regards Michael G (UK)
