I've filed many, many sets of Renner hammers.

I don't find any problems.

However, let's remember Big Dave's Immutable Law #1:
Every head a planet.  So, your perceptions may vary.

They may be "ugly looking beasts" to you but they're the choice of some of
the best manufacturers and rebuilders in the world, so....

You may have heard Chris Robinson talk about some particularly hard set of
hammers, or some older stuff; but for the past 8 years or so, with one
notable recent exception, I've been generally very happy with their
consistency and voiceability. I have many sets in high-use situations; they
perform very, very well; very stable and creamy once you get them right.
