damper wires hitting string(s)

I have not found that to be the case. Of course, "easy does it", is
appropriate here. ie don't drive tacks with a sledge hammer.<G> This may
cure some of the problems. After all, we're only talking shifting the guide
rails "slightly" to the right, (treble). I usually use my 3/4" rubber mute
wedge(s) to do the wedging. Other time, I used a block of wood and a wooden
shim. That time I loosened the screws of the guide rails and simply "Hand"
wedged it. No hammer needed!<G> If it screws up the other dampers, then it
is reversible.<G>
